How To Use Address Verification To Update And Standardize Addresses
Maintaining a clean contact database can be challenging and time consuming, whether your organization is large or small. Accurate contact information is essential for any organization to maintain meaningful communications with organizational supporters.
In this lesson, you will learn about the Address Verification feature in Aplos and how this automated tool will ensure that you have the most up-to-date addresses for your people. When you mail contribution statements to your donors or send other correspondence, you can reduce the cost of wasted postage on returned mail. This feature will also save you time by automatically making edits to your contacts’ addresses.
For best results, log in to your account in a separate window and follow along. Don’t have an account yet? Start a free trial.
Topics covered in this lesson include:
- What Is Address Verification? [0:10]
Address Verification is an optional upgrade in Aplos that will automatically update and verify the addresses of your contacts. The addresses in your database will be synced daily with the USPS (United States Postal Service) database, where they will be verified each night. - Address Moves [0:55]
With Address Verification now automating your data cleanup nightly, you will be notified under the Address Moves tab in Aplos of any changes that resulted from a submission of address change to the USPS. Go to Address Moves in Aplos, or view our Support Center resource for Address Moves. - Address Verifications [1:05]
Along with notifying you of any address changes, the USPS will update and verify addresses in your contact database, indicating a VERIFIED or NOT VERIFIED heading next to the address on each contact’s profile. This feature also standardizes the format of how addresses are displayed in Aplos. Go to Address Verifications in Aplos, or view our Support Center resource for Address Verification. - Enabling Address Verification [1:30]
Maintaining accurate addresses in your contact database begins with enabling Address Verification in Aplos. If you are an administrator, you can do this from the Subscription page. If not, you can reach out to your administrator to enable this feature.
